What is the KB article about?
This article explains how to add scanned signature graphics for the Erasure Operator and Erasure Supervisor to ZeroData Windows PDF reports using the /ASI option. It includes prerequisites, folder and file requirements, image specifications, and troubleshooting steps.

What is the solution?

Prerequisites:

  • Create a folder named Signature in the same directory as the ZeroData Windows executable file.

  • Signature images must be in PNG format with a white background to match the PDF report background.

  • File naming convention:

    • Operator.png – Operator signature

    • Supervisor.png – Supervisor signature

Signature Placeholder Size:

  • Width: 400 pixels

  • Height: 110 pixels

If the image dimensions differ, ZeroData Windows automatically scales them to fit the reserved space.

Steps to Add Signatures:

  1. Create the Signature Folder:

    • Locate the folder containing the ZeroData Windows executable.

    • Create a new folder named Signature if it does not exist.

  2. Prepare the Signature Images:

    • Scan the operator and supervisor signatures.

    • Save both images in PNG format with a white background.

    • Name the files exactly as specified and place them in the Signature folder.

  3. Optimize Signature Image Dimensions:

    • Recommended aspect ratio: 4:1 (width should be four times the height).

    • Example: Width 960 pixels, Height 240 pixels.

  4. Run ZeroData Windows with the /ASI Option:

    • Execute ZeroData Windows using the /ASI command-line option.

    • Generate the PDF report.

Verification:

  • Confirm the operator signature appears in the operator signature section.

  • Confirm the supervisor signature appears in the supervisor signature section.

  • Verify that both signatures are displayed completely and are not cropped or distorted.

Troubleshooting:

  • Signatures Do Not Appear:

    • Possible causes: Missing Signature folder, incorrect folder location, incorrect file names, or files not in PNG format.

    • Resolution: Verify folder name and location, confirm correct file names and PNG format.

  • Signatures Are Cropped or Distorted:

    • Possible causes: Image dimensions significantly different from placeholder size or unsuitable aspect ratio.

    • Resolution: Use images with dimensions close to the reserved area and maintain a 4:1 width-to-height ratio.

Summary: The /ASI option inserts scanned Operator and Supervisor signatures into ZeroData Windows PDF reports. Ensure correct folder structure, file naming, and image specifications for successful implementation.
